Samburu Itinerary
Itineraries
Day 1
Nairobi / Departure – Transfer to Samburu
Depart from Nairobi in the morning and enjoy a scenic journey to Samburu. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch and check-in. After some relaxation, proceed for an afternoon game drive in Samburu National Reserve, known for its special wildlife species and beautiful semi-arid scenery. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2
Full Day Samburu Safari Experience
After breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive in Samburu with picnic lunch or enjoy morning and afternoon game drives depending on the package arrangement. Explore the reserve and look out for Samburu’s unique wildlife species, including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk. Enjoy the stunning views along the Ewaso Nyiro River before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3
Samburu – Return
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, check out, and begin your journey back to Nairobi. Arrive later in the day with great Easter safari memories from Samburu.

Unlike Masai Mara's Big 5, Samburu is famous for the rare Special 5 you cannot see in Mara: Grevy's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk (giraffe gazelle), and Somali Ostrich. The landscape is also more rugged, arid and authentic with the beautiful Ewaso Nyiro River, fewer crowds, and unique Samburu culture.
It's approx. 6-7 hours drive from Nairobi to Samburu via Nanyuki. We use a 4x4 Land Cruiser with pop-up roof for maximum game viewing comfort - not a van. You can also opt to fly (at extra cost) - 1 hour from Wilson to Samburu.
Transport, 2 nights accommodation on full board (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner), unlimited game drives, driver-guide, water.
